Daedalus · Chapter 5 of 6

The Thread Through the Shell

A shell · An ant · A bath run too hot

The cleverest man alive was found by asking a clever question.

The tradition does not stop at the flight. Minos hunted him across the Mediterranean carrying a spiral seashell and a standing offer: a reward to anyone who could run a thread through it. It was a trap baited for one mind. At Kamikos in Sicily, King Kokalos passed the shell to a guest, who tied the thread to an ant and let it walk the spiral through. Minos recognised the work and demanded the man. Kokalos agreed — then let his daughters run the bath too hot, and the hunt ended in it.

Unlocks in-game at Ascension tier 4.
