Quetzalcoatl · Chapter 6 of 7

Ehecatl, the Wind That Sweeps the Road

A round temple · A wind mask · A road swept clean

They took the corners off the building so the wind would not catch.

One of his forms has its own architecture. As Ehecatl, the wind, Quetzalcoatl is described sweeping the road ahead of the rain deities so that they can come, and his temples are built round instead of rectangular, the corners taken off so the wind can turn. Round platforms of this kind survive at Calixtlahuaca and elsewhere, and they are pre-Hispanic buildings rather than later reconstructions. A projecting wind mask identifies him in the pictorial manuscripts. A figure known mainly from post-conquest books left a shape on the ground that can still be walked around today.

Unlocks in-game at Ascension tier 4.
