Fenrir · Chapter 1 of 5
The Wolf
Prophecy · Fear · A child raised
They kept him close because they were afraid to let him go.
Norse myth gives Fenrir as a child the Æsir were afraid of. They take him from his father and raise him in Asgard, which sounds merciful until you learn why: a prophecy held that he would kill Odin, and they wanted him where he could be watched. He grows. He keeps growing. The sources have them observing him eat and saying nothing to one another about it, while the question of what to do about him becomes heavier, and later.
