The One Man Who Could Have Told Him

A guide sent · A blow in the dark · A year

She sent the one man who could have stopped it. He met Rostam first.

When Sohrab rides to war the Shahnameh has her do the one practical thing still open to her. She sends her brother Zhanda Razm with him, for the reason the poem states plainly: he had once seen Rostam at a feast and could point him out on the field. Rostam, scouting the Turanian camp at night in Turkman dress, meets a man stepping out of a tent and kills him with a single blow of his fist, not knowing who he is. The guide is dead before the combat begins. When the news reaches Samangan the poem gives her a lament, and then says she did not outlive the year.

Unlocks in-game at Ascension tier 2.
