Thor · Chapter 6 of 7

The Bride of Þrym

Disguise · Humiliation · Recovery

He got the hammer back. He had to be laughed at first.

Þrymskviða, one of the Poetic Edda's comic pieces, opens with Thor waking to find Mjölnir gone. The giant Þrymr has buried it eight leagues deep and will return it for Freyja's hand. Freyja refuses so violently that her necklace bursts, so Heimdall proposes the alternative: dress Thor as the bride. He objects — at length — and goes anyway, veiled, with Loki beside him as the maid. At the feast he eats an ox and eight salmon, and Loki explains the appetite away as bridal nerves. Then the hammer is laid in the bride's lap to bless the marriage.

Unlocks in-game at Ascension tier 4.
