The Name of Ra

She did not steal the power. She invoiced for it.
One Egyptian tale has her extract a secret from the top of the pantheon. In a story preserved on a Turin papyrus, Ra is old and drooling; she gathers the spittle with earth, works it into a snake and leaves it on the path he walks. The bite carries a poison nothing answers, and she offers the cure on one condition — she must be given his true, hidden name, the one he tells to nobody. He tries a list of titles first. The name passes, the poison goes, and the tradition calls her great of magic from there.
